A Blog Supreme

Hey! My name is Sean McCarthy and I’m a Canadian soprano saxophonist based in Montreal, Quebec. I’m starting this blog to document my thoughts and explorations into the soprano saxophone in jazz and improvised music.

I started playing soprano in 2019 and it became my primary instrument in 2021. I have spent hundreds of hours since then practicing, studying, reading, and crate digging for everything and anything soprano related. I hope to share some of what I’ve found here so that others might not have to look quite so hard to uncover the gems of this under-appreciated horn.
